Laura’s tiny tunes
Awaken, Wonder, Discover.
Music from the beginning
The key aspects of my work are intimacy, key to culture, community, and self-expression and emotion management. Within an institutional framework, my work focuses on sensitization to aesthetics, and on auditory, vocal, and tactile levels. It provides a moment that steps out of daily routines, offering moments of detachment, discovery, and expression. This is important for both children and educators, allowing educators to see their charges from a different perspective and participate together, sharing experiences. Music and movement, especially in combination, offer many opportunities as tools for communication and socialization. Educators can learn and expand their repertoire while being encouraged to create music themselves.
How?
My professional practice is a blend of musical awakening (éveil musicale) and multidisciplinary activities for children aged 0-6, musical interventions in various institutional contexts, and professional development for educators.

I am collaborating with a woodcrafter to create a portable wooden sound installation designed for babies and young children. The goal is to enhance auditory sensitivity and foster an appreciation for the interaction between materials, textures, and sounds. By incorporating natural materials into the creches, where most items are steril and made from plastic, we aim to encourage playful exploration and a deep sense of enjoyment in discovering new sensory experiences.

A songbook in French for young children who want to learn the violin but are not yet able to read music, as well as beginners of any age. Folk songs, known as comptines, are presented in simplified notation. The aim of this book is to enable authentic musical experiences from the very start and to provide a gentle introduction to music notation. For questions or interest, don't hesitate to contact me.

I maintain a constant collaboration with the association Creches Liberty. Together with my colleagues and the coordinator, Veronique Hiss, we developed a year-long choir project for the daycare educators, focusing on lullabies. Since intimacy in and through music is also one of my research focuses, I took this opportunity to delve deeper into the subject. For the project, I wrote an original song and created French lyrics for two other songs. 2024

Creches Liberty is one of my constant employers. I regularly conduct musical interventions in several of their locations. This allows me to get to know the daily life of the educators and children and adapt my activities to their needs. As a guest lecturer and artistic project manager, I developed a staged concert with students from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, which we also recorded as an album. More information can be found under 'works'. 2022
